This Saturday, 21 April 2012, Slade Gardens in Lambeth's Vassall Ward celebrates the opening of a new under-5s playground with a grand community picnic.
Come and explore the fabulous new playground and take part in face painting, balloon modelling, giant drawing and park tours. Bring a blanket, bring food to share and bring your friends!
The event will take place between 12 and 3pm with amongst others Vauxhall MP Kate Hoey and Councillor Florence Nosegbe, Labour Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and the Olympics.
The rejuvination of the play area is the result of partnership working between local group the Friends of Slade Gardens and Lambeth Council. The Council has used so called section 106 funding from local housing developers to part finance the redevelopment.
Local Vassall Councillor Adrian Garden commented "This is a fantastic facility for local children and a great addition to Vassall Ward, I am sure it will be very well used all year round. This is a great example of Lambeth Council working with local people to make the area better for everyone."
