Lambeth council and the local police force have authorised the creation of a new dispersal zone covering parts of Vassall aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour in the area.
The new zone covers the Cowley, Myatts Field North and Church Manor estates,
as well as sections of the Holland Town estate (Mandela Street,
Chryssell Road, Preseverance Street and Holland Grove). Russell Grove,
Cancell Road, Vassall Road and Cowley Road are also included in the zone. This dispersal area will allow local police to disperse groups of individuals they suspect of causing anti-social behaviour and allow officers to tell people who don't live in the zone to leave the area. Police can also instruct non-residents to leave for a set period (no more than 24 hours), while those under the age of 16 will not be allowed in the zone between the hours of 9pm and 6am unless they are under the effective control of a parent or responsible adult.
The creation of the zone - supported by local councillors Jacqui Dyer, Paul Gadsby and Annie Gallop - comes after complaints of anti-social behaviour in the area over the past year from a number of residents and community groups. It will remain in place for a six month period until the 3 April 2015.
If you have any questions about the zone, please do get in touch with Vassall's local dedicated police officer, PC Louise Steedan on firstname.lastname@example.org
