Lambeth launches new cycle and greenway consultations in Vassall

Lambeth council have this week launched two new consultations affecting local roads in the Myatts Field Park area aimed at improving the neighbourhood for pedesterians and cyclists.

Both consultations close on the 18 December, and seperately look at:

  • Two-way cycling in one-way streets: Part of a broader consultation on improving cycle routes in the borough, this consultation proposes turning Tindal street from a one way street into a two way street. Read more about this here.

  • Greenway consultation: Again part of a broader plan from Lambeth, this proposes several greening and calming projects on rounds around Myatts Field Park. The key proposed changes, which wont result in the loss of parking spaces, are listed below - more detail and how to respond to this consultation can be found here.
Calais Street/ Cormont Road/ Halsmere Road Junction 
  • Proposed raised table at the junction to reduce general traffic speeds on Calais Street and Cormont Road 
  • Footway build out to increase the footway width by the park entrance allowing the removal of the pedestrian guard railing 
  • New right turn cycle filter from Calais Street to Cormont Road
Cormont Road/ Brief Street Junction 
 
  • Proposed raised table at the junction to reduce general traffic speeds on Cormont Road and Brief Street
  • Footway build out to increase the footway width by the park entrance allowing the removal of the pedestrian guard railing
Knatchbull Road/ Lilford Road/ Minet Road Junction 
 
  • Proposed raised table at the junction to reduce general traffic speeds on Knatchbull Road, Lilford Road and Minet Road
  • New give-way markings on all four arms of the junction to encourage drivers to be more cautious
