Lambeth council has announced a new wave of tree planting projects in the borough, including sites in Vassall. The programme will bring the overall number of trees planted in Lambeth since 2009 to 4,000.The new sites in Vassall include:
- Cancell Road
- Lothian Road
- Normandy Road
More tree projects have been agreed in areas surrounding Vassall, including in Oval, Stcokwell and Brixton. The announcement is part of Lambeth Labour's pledge to make local streets cleaner and greener for residents.
Last month, the Mayor Sadiq Khan announced the implementation of a new clean air bus corridor beginning on Brixton Road which will mean only buses with the cleanest engines can operate on routes using this major highway. The Mayor has also agreed following another campaign by local councillors - Paul Gadsby, Jacqui Dyer and Annie Gallop - to extend the Santander bike scheme into Brixton, with a new docking station set to be installed on Normandy Road.
